My Muse is On Holiday. I Hope She’s Somewhere Warm and Sunny

December 22nd, 2009

I’m not sure if it’s because Christmas is almost here and we’ve been whirling dervishes in this house or because I let myself slip and quit writing every day, but I seem to be having trouble getting my creative muse to do her job.  I think it’s because I am letting myself get out of practice.  When I set the Blog 365 goal, I knew I had to write every day.  When I said, pffffft I need a break, I started the slide down the hill to lazydom. Here’s my plan for next year.

  • I am going to recommit to Blog 365 for 2010.
  • I am going to force myself to make the wheels turn and the ideas flow. The only set schedule I plan on following is Weekly Winners because I need to start using my camera regularly again and if I’m going to have free time on my hands, I think it will be less of a problem.
  • I am going to actually write. I will stay away from the other theme days – Wordless Wednesday, Thursday 13, Monday Memes – so that I have to think about what I write.
  • I am going to be a mommy blogger. This is not a goal, it’s something I have resigned myself to. I don’t like the title “mommyblogger” but quite frankly if I’m spending hours upon hours with the Aidanmeister you are probably going to read about it.
  • I am going to write down some of my short stories. Most of them are for children. They are the stories I spin for Aidan when we’re going to sleep at night.

I have written down a few things I want to write about before the end of the year and I will do my best to get to them.  Things are hectic around here, what with the arrival of Cartman and all, but I still have my nights wide open!

Next year, 2010, is going to be the year of the writer on this blog!

Mine seems to be gone too. Not sure I can do 365 days straight, but I do plan to get it up at least 3 days a week in the new year. Merr Sitsmas!

  7. Good for you! I must confess though quitting blog 365 was the best thing I could have done. While I do miss writing every day, sometimes you have to take a break and/or get more important things done. I love your Weekly Winners!

I’m still doing Wordless Wednesday, while I know it’s not technically writing.. it’s the only time I really use my own pics and coming up with a catchy title is sometimes tougher than writing an entire post LMAO

Short stories for children? I have to come clean, while I love books for adults, the child in me has never died and they are my favorite books to read, maybe that has something to do w/ being a teacher of preschoolers, I don’t know. I can’t wait to read your stories.

That being said, I love your blog and can’t wait to read whatever you write.
