Lifting the Veil
August 20th, 2009
The other day, I was cruising through my Google Reader and hopped on over to Avitable's place. Don't read him? Why not? He's full of the awesome and as close to a God of blogging as one could be in my not so humble opinion. Honestly, his blog makes me spit diet coke at my nose almost every single day. Anywho, the post was a list of the five things he hates about blogging. Mother fucker, I'm guilty of at least three things on that list. One of them was people that use pseudonyms instead of real people names on their blogs and it made me think….hmmm….I thunk, why do I use pseudonyms? I have decided not to blog about work anymore, so I don't need any of those AKA's. The only people I really care about hiding this blog from are members of my family who wouldn't know how to search for a blog if the instructions were written in neon above their heads – it's Vegas, it could totally happen. So without further ado, let's unwrap the cast… Me = Perpstu, my online name on Twitter and Plurk. Other people tend to call me Karin or Finance Lady. I prefer Fucking Fabulous Goddess and Diva Queen of All That is Awesome myself, but that is a little long for everyday use. You may call me Karin. That's right, one K, one I, no Es. DigitalRob = Brace yourselves – this is going to knock your socks off – my husband, Rob. LW = Little Whirlwind = my kiddo, Aidan. He's also known as Aido, AidoTato, Pumpkin Head or Spud. Now that I have outed him, I can talk about my favorite subjects like Aidocakes and Aidopalooza (both topics coming soon to a blog post near you. Check your local listings.) Mamacita = My mom, nuff said. Cartman = my brother, Erik. I will probably continue to call him Cartman because it fits. Seriously. This is how I think of my brother in real life.
Not kidding even a little. Ask Cajun Vegan, she'll back me up! MILdred, SILvia, Little Sis and the nieces = Rob's mom, sisters and our nieces. I may continue to use their nom de plumes (does that apply if I'm the one doing the writing? Whatev, it does on this blog.) I don't write about them often enough to think about it right now. I think that's it. I've covered all the bases. Let you in to my little corner of insanity….I just have one request. If we are friends on Facebook, don't EVER mention this blog over there. Seriously. I don't tell my family about my blog for the following reasons:
- I'm afraid they'll be offended if I write about them
- I'm afraid they'll be offended if I don't write about them
- I'm afraid they'll be offended by words and phrases like boogina or shitfuckdamn, yo.
- There are some things they just don't need to know.
So hop aboard, buckle up and away we will go!

Interesting, my mom’s name is Karin spelled exactly the same way.

Hello, nice to meet you.
I personally will continue to use nicknames out of respect for the people that I blog about. People in my world just do not understand why I would want to blog, or why I speak about some things.
However, I cannot wait to hear about Aidocakes and Aidopalooza!
xxooxx

There is a problem here, we know these people by the names you introduced them.
How can we ever translate LW to Aidan, he’s LW to us w00t, the others we can handle but LW ROCKS!

It’s your blog and you can do whatever you want with it! We’ll still read it just cuz we love ya.

You are not the boss of Rupe. Rupe will not be influenced by your wanton disregard. Rupe will not follow your lead. Rupe will not be swayed.
“Rupe” has worked for Rupe since Rupe began using Rupe.
Rupe. Rupe. Rupe. Rupe. Rupe.

How did that feel?? I think congruency and transparency are more important now. Good for you!

Why does this guy hate pseudonyms being used? I don’t care either way as long as I can distinguish who’s who.

Brave! You outed yourself! I came over from SITS and I’m so glad I did. I love your blog! I’ll be back…
